LOVING OUR ENEMIES – HOW?

With the help of the Holy Spirit, it is possible to love those we don’t like. Loving is more than an intensification of “liking.” It is of a different order.

Jesus put it this way: “Love your enemies.” – Matthew 5:44. But this is made even more difficult when so often one’s enemies are those of his own household, or family; Matthew 10:36.

How encouraging it is that God’s own Spirit is given to us, and “the fruit of the Spirit” is the very love we need. Study also these Scriptures:

Romans 5:5 — And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

I John 4:7 — Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
