In the light of I John 1:9, choose between the following:
- God forgives because he loves, or
2. Because he loves, God makes way to forgive.
See Verse 9 again, “He is faithful and just to forgive.” Because God loves the sinner, He sends His Son Jesus to die and pay the penalty for sin. Now, it is just for God to forgive. Indeed, it would be unjust for God NOT to forgive.
When I see the Savior on the cross, I tremble at the magnitude of my sin—to require so much! But, then, I see the greatness of God’s love—to pay so much!
