God says in the Book of John, Chapter 1, verse 11, “He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.”   Jesus Christ was crucified for our sins.  People are still today rejecting this Savior.  He rose again and through the inner voice of the Holy Spirit knocks at the door of hearts.

Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  The devil has a long waiting line at his window – wages – death – those that frolic in pleasures of sin for a season will finally be paid in full.

Yet, the Bible warns that we have all sinned.  What person reading this can say they are perfect before God?  The stains of our wayward lives are seen in even the best that we do. Man is condemned before God.

But look, the next part of this verse says the “gift” is eternal life. It’s free – but though a free gift, it’s not cheap.  Jesus bore our sins.  He paid it all.  “God commended his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  He was punished in our stead.  He became sin for us.  The wages of our sin were charged to his account and he paid the debt in full.  But there are some still who have never accepted the redemption.  They’ve never said an everlasting thank you to Christ and surrendered in repentance to him.

God so loved the world he gave his only Son. But if then, after Christ bore our sins, we go on in our own ways, we’ll pay the price!  The wages of sin is death.

But O the joy of full salvation, of taking the gift of everlasting life. It’s not turning over a new leaf – it’s a new life in Christ!  Just kneel as a child before the Savior and in prayer invite him to take over your heart and life.  Make a once-for-all decision for God. Thank him for the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus.  Then set out to read your Bible daily.  Begin regular habits of talking everything over with the Lord in prayer.  But you can’t do these things until you have first settled the sin question!  Thank God that Jesus paid it all!
