What is ahead for those who believe in Christ

JUST IMAGINE: What is ahead for those who believe in Christ! And what about now? (Much more is promised than we are experiencing.)

Here is the Bible’s answer to each of these questions:

1. What is ahead?

John 12:26 Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

Christ truly wants those who belong to Him here to be with Him where He is in heaven. There the Father will especially honor Christ’s servants.

See more: John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Jesus himself is preparing in advance for us.

John 17:24 Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

Jesus here asks the Father that we may be with Him where He is. This is a literal place – not an ethereal state but a location, “where I am,” He says.

Again, Jesus asks his Father that we might be with Him and see His glory, as given by the Father.

2. What about life here and now?

John 16:7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away.

Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

Our Advocate, the Spirit, is now ours, and God’s blessings in our day are said to be even greater than when our Lord Jesus was present with His disciples. Indeed, “he set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” 2 Corinthians 1:21-22

“What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.”
I Corinthians 2:12
