Stopping Worry by Worship
The only real answer to worry is worship. To the extent we truly worship our Lord, we will be freed from slavery to worry. But the big questions are: exactly what is worship? And how do I personally worship God?
Definition of Worship – Worship is the act of giving God honor, adoration, praise and glory for all that he is in himself and for all that he has done and is doing for us – especially, giving his Son Jesus Christ to be our Savior.
Practically, how do I worship God? As you read Scripture each day be asking what is taught here about God? What kind of a God would do or say this? Then, worship him for that. Every time Scripture is read, worship should be the result.
Helping Ourselves and Others Who are in Painful Trial
Scripture tells us clearly that we ought not be surprised to discover that trial and suffering are a part of the way we must go. See this taught in I Peter 4:12. It must not surprise us. Simply put, there is no trial that does not try us.
Now, read the next verse 13:
But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ,
so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.
Finally, that Chapter closes with a great lesson – How to keep going when you can’t.
So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit
themselves to their faithful creator and continue to do good.
The teaching is clear. If my way is God’s way for me, then I have but two steps to take: First, commit myself to my faithful creator. Second, keep on doing good, putting one foot in front of the other.
