HOW CAN I STOP SINNING?

Here is a thought to remember:  You can’t beat out a fire with a burning torch, nor can a sinful heart put out its own sin.  Think it over.  But what we cannot do ourselves, God will do in us when we receive Jesus Christ as our Savior.  Read Second Corinthians 5:17 and you will see that you may become a new creation in Christ.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Then, after you are born anew of the Spirit, you ought still to confess “that in me….dwells no good thing,” Romans 7:18.  Our old heart-affections are still lingering there, but the Holy Spirit is now in the life to give victory.  Thus, Romans 8:13 says that through the Spirit we can put to death the sinful desires of our old nature.  Read of this NEW POWER available to you, as described in Romans, Chapter 8.
