Do You Ever PRAY for Your Pastor?

Do you really pray for him? Of course, you ask the Lord to help him preach in power so that men and women may be brought into a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus through his ministry.

Do you pray for him personally? Do you ever remind yourself that he is the target of the attacks of Satan to a much greater degree, probably, than you are? Do you recognize the fact that — should your pastor be defeated spiritually at some important test — the enemy of our soul would regard it as a far greater victory than if some less influential Christian were defeated?

And while you’re thinking about your pastor, look around your church at some of the others who have been entrusted with a measure of spiritual authority: the executive board of officers, the Sunday school staff…the captain of your Brigade battalion or the guide of your Pioneer Girls. Do you pray for them often — realizing that what is true about your pastor’s prayer needs is also true about theirs?

Do you remember that if they failed spiritually, they would very likely bring down in defeat with them numbers of boys and girls and young people who are looking to them as examples? And remembering this — do you talk to the Lord about them often, instead of discussing their shortcomings with others? Do you remind yourself that they are your brothers and sisters in God’s own family…and therefore do you cultivate the kind of family loyalty that overlooks faults and stands by through thick and thin?  We hope you do.      — Copied
